The City of Flagstaff Parks and Recreation Department hosts its annual holiday celebration – a Snowman Skate – on Saturday afternoon at the Jay Lively Activity Center (ice arena, 1650 North Turquoise Dr,), 1:00 – 4:30 p.m. Join the fun with skating, hot chocolate, cookies, and snowman building outdoors, weather permitting (c’mon snow!). The Theatrikos Community Theatre production of Miracle on 34th Street continues for a final weekend. Put on your hat and boots and head downtown to the Orpheum Theater on Saturday evening for a High Country Cowboy Christmas. It’s a winter’s night of song, stories, poems and western humor, featuring the acoustic-folk duo D-Squared, with performances by Gail and Amy Steiger, Tony Norris and Tom Weathers. On Saturday evening at the Green Room (15 N. Agassiz St.), you’ll find Santa’s Secret Drag Show and Comedians – a fundraiser for The Shadows Foundation. Enjoy stand-up comedy with a talented cast from Phoenix, including Bear Torres, Gene Moore, Anthony Desmito, Heidi Geldis-Young and Comedy Central Comedian Thai Rivera. The Theatrikos stage doesn’t go dark for long after Miracle on 34th Street (see above), as the Theatrikos Theatre Company presents The Santaland Diaries on Sunday through Tuesday evenings, 7:30 p.m. Longtime actor/director Becky Daggett is taking on this irreverent tale of a department store elf who laments the indignities he faces at his seasonal job. Playing the part made famous by David Sedaris in his popular NPR monologue is Scott Ballou, best known as the director of shows like “The 39 Steps” and “A Few Good Men.” Some mild adult content — might not be appropriate for younger or more sensitive patrons. Holiday Tours of Riordan Mansion continue. See turn-of-the-century décor, with a towering fir tree trimmed with old-fashioned ornaments.
